Leif and I have both had the privilege of working with Liz. She interned at Time Warner Cable while I was working there and she got her first job as a news producer at News 8 where Leif worked. She was exceptional: smart, witty, refreshingly introverted. That’s why we were so excited when she and Steve asked us to shoot her beautiful October wedding. Just like her, the day was filled with character. The decor, the readings, the jokes, the people, the dancing, and the list goes on. Everything was intentional and so well done.
The day started and ended at the Genesee Country Village & Museum. It’s where she grew up working summer camps and Liz said she knew from a young age that she wanted to be married there. The ceremony was held in the small courthouse in the village and the reception was in the beautiful barn on the premise. Liz and Steve included bits and pieces of their favorite things throughout the day. The bridesmaids wore black complimented by vibrant sunflowers. Liz rocked a gorgeous mermaid gown with the most fun gigantic skirt and Kate Spade sequined Keds. The sweetheart table was decorated with a chicken (Steve’s favorite) and the cake was topped with two bull dogs? (to match their own little guy). We toured the village with Liz and Steve to get pictures at their favorite spots. Not only did we spot a real live chicken but we got the most epic shots of the newlyweds running. We experienced a first of our own when Liz bit the dust while gazing into Steve’s eyes… but do not fear, she is strong with a good sense of humor and she got right back up to try again. After hilarious speeches from siblings and parents the couple danced the night away with family and friends. The DJ played 90’s dive music per the request of Liz and the dance floor was packed till the very last song.
